Steam Driver Experience £175

Steam Driver Experience

Steam Driver Experience

Have you ever wanted to drive a real steam locomotive? This is your chance to drive our genuine coal-fired steam locomotive “Georgina” on two round trips from Peasholm Station to Scalby Mills Station and back. Under supervision, you will feel what it is like to be in charge of a steam locomotive with all the demands of the timetable. Up to eight guests can travel with you on the train.

Selected dates and times available February – July and September – October at 11am and 2pm.

Please see the video below for more details of this fantastic esperience.

Please see below for terms and conditions and  health and safety details for this experience.

Cost is £175 and the course lasts around 2 hours.

All experiences come with a Gift Card, a North Bay Railway engine driver’s mug, pen, badge and certificate.

There will be photo opportunities during the experience, so feel free to bring your camera.

We will be pleased to welcome you and your party to the North Bay Railway and if you have any further questions please contact us on 01723 368791 or by Email to info@nbr.org.uk.

Health and Safety Info

The above experiences are available to persons aged over 18 on the day of their experience and all participants must be physically fit. We regret that these experiences are not suitable for disabled persons. The carriage is 100% wheelchair friendly if needed for accompanying guests. (Up to two wheelchairs can fit onto the carriage.)
As you can perhaps appreciate, coal-fired steam locomotives are relatively dirty places on which to work and travel. The Guest Driver should therefore please wear stout footwear (steel capped shoes/boots – if at all possible) and some form of protective overall or old non nylon clothing.
