Driver Experience

North Bay Railway can offer two unique driver experiences. You can drive Georgina our steam locomotive or one of our heritage diesel locomotives. The choice is yours.

Steam Driver Experience

Have you ever wanted to drive a real steam locomotive? This is your chance to drive our genuine coal-fired steam locomotive “Georgina” from Peasholm Station to Scalby Mills Station and back. Under supervision, you will feel what it is like to be in charge of a steam locomotive with all the demands of the timetable, and stunting requirements. Up to eight guests can travel with you on the train.

Selected dates and times available March – July and September – October. Please telephone 01723 368791 or email info@nbr.org.uk for more details.

Diesel Driver Experience

This exciting driver experience gives you a chance to drive one of our 85 year old steam outline DIESEL locomotives on one round trip for you and up to 10 family members or friends enjoying the experience on the train. The main locomotives used for these experiences are Neptune or Triton. If you would like to drive Robin Hood or Poseidon please ask at time of booking.

These run, as required, before or after (early morning or evening) our timetabled service February – November.

Cost is £120 and the course lasts around 1 hour

Covid 19 Update May 2020
As I am sure you are aware of the news and the severity of this outbreak. As a Company we must put first the safety of our staff, volunteers and our valued customers.

To this aim we have reviewed all current advice from the Government, NHS England and other appropriate sources. We believe it would be irresponsible to expose staff and volunteers to unnecessary risk. Therefore with regret we have taken the decision to close the North Bay Heritage Railwayand Attractions until further notice.

This decision was particularly hard to make and will be subject constant review with the aim to resume operations as soon as it is safe to do so.

Hopefully this decision will not only protect the public but also protect our staff and volunteers, many of whom are in the “at risk” groups as defined by Public Health England.

We will be posting regular updates via social media and our website www.nbr.org.uk

Thank you to everyone for your continued support during this difficult time, stay safe.

The NBR Team.
