Come down to the North Bay Heritage Railway in Scarborough to join in the festive celebrations, and most importantly meet Santa himself. Our Santa Specials will be fully Covid-19 safe and all compartments will be fully cleaned between trains.

The first Santa Special train will be departing from Peasholm Station on selected dates during December. We also advise everyone to pre book via the web site.

To remain Covid-19 safe we have had to change the format of our Santa Specials. You will travel from Peasholm Station to Scalby Mills Station, hot drinks will be included before your board the train. At Scalby Mills you will be greeted by our Elves and the big man himself, Santa, he will visit your family group whilst your seated in your carriage compartment. Children will receive a gift from Santa and there will a chance to take a photo’s, the train will then return to Peasholm Station. 

As the event is all outdoors please wear warm clothing, the event will be held whatever the weather, please feel free to bring along a blanket and your Hot Water Bottle! Also be aware some trains are very busy especially on peak dates (18th – 23rd December), we endeavour to keep your wait to see Santa as short as possible. Please allow up to on hour one hour for the Santa Special.

Santa Special Terms and Conditions

Terms and conditions: Tickets are non refundable, you can transfer tickets to another date subject to availability, a fee of £5 will be charged to cover administration costs. If for any reason the North Bay Railway cancels a service you will be offer another date or full refund. Please be aware trains depart on time and we will not wait for passengers who are late. If you miss your train subject to availability you will be offered and alternative time. If no spaces are available you will be offered the gift from Santa, no refund will be given. We reserve the right to cancel bookings that do not comply with current goverment Covid-19 rules or guidelines. A £2 booking fee will be applied on booking your tickets, this is non refundable.

Passengers are allocated a numbered seat if extra passengers are added after booking we can not guarantee your party will be sat together. We have one enclosed carriages these seats will be allocated first, please let us know if you prefer to be seated in enclosed or open carriage. We can accommodate four wheelchairs per train, priority will be give to disabled passengers.

Push chairs are not allowed on the trains a parking area is at Peasholm Station. Please inform our staff at the time of booking if you have any special requirement or children have special needs, we will do everything possible to accommodate you.

Covid-19 update January 2021

North Bay Heritage Railway is now CLOSED until March 21

Our office is now closed, we can be contacted via social media or email info@nbr.org.uk⠀

To help protect everyone who visits NBR you will see all our staff wearing a mask. You will be asked to sanitise your hands on entry with the sanitiser we provide or your own. A mask is worn on entry and whilst queuing. You can remove the mask when you are on the train or at a table within the Lake area. You will need to fill in the Track and Trace form or scan the NHS Covid-19 QR code with your smart phone. We ask everyone to respect social distancing at 2 meters. We continue to clean each carriage compartment between use, door handles and other touch points on a regular basis.

NBR will be Covid-19 compliant and we ask all visitors to follow the simple rules. Safety of passengers and staff will be put first!

All Driver Experiences will be rearranged once the social distance restrictions are lifted (we are not putting an expiry date on these experiences) We are constantly reviewing these dates and will extend them if needs be. ⠀
